For most of my life, I looked like I had it together. I had a beautiful wife and 2 kids. I built businesses. I chased goals. I read the books. I optimized everything.
And yet — underneath the success — I felt restless, anxious, and compulsively driven.
I wasn’t lacking information.
I was avoiding something deeper.
I grew up in a family where survival meant staying quiet, staying small, and staying out of the way. Moods shifted without warning and emotional tension was just “normal.”
From an early age, I learned to stay alert, manage my reactions, and perform well to avoid conflict. Achievement became my way of feeling safe.
Finding spiritual recovery introduced me to Emotional Sobriety — learning to sit with feelings, take responsibility, and build healthier patterns. It gave me tools and structure to begin rebuilding from the inside out.
